AUDIT & ATTESTATION
At Smoak, Davis & Nixon LLP, we pride ourselves on maintaining the highest standards of communication, responsiveness, and accessibility. We take great care to provide the quality audit and assurance services necessary to help you achieve success.
Whether your organization is a private company, a non-profit organization or an employee benefit plan, Smoak, Davis & Nixon LLP will provide you with the services you need to take your organization to the next level.
Financial Statement Audits – Auditing is more than just confirming numbers. Ultimately, audits assess the reliability of your financial statements. As such, they are more than just a formality – they protect your business. At Smoak, Davis & Nixon LLP, we take the time to understand your business and industry to develop a customized audit strategy that fits your needs.
Non-profit Audits – Service to nonprofit organizations has been part of our larger practice focus since our inception. This focus enables us to provide technically astute audit services and insightful consulting services. Our entire team receives specialized training specific to these entities. This includes significant experience and educational training related to audits under Uniform Guidance and Government Auditing Standards.
Employee Benefit Plan Audits – In this highly regulated environment, you need to have confidence in your benefit plan audit. Smoak, Davis & Nixon LLP is a member of the AICPA Employee Benefit Plan Audit Quality Center. We devote substantial resources to our employee benefits practice, providing our clients with efficient audits performed by professionals who are highly trained and experienced.
A financial statement review is less extensive than a financial statement audit. A review provides limited assurance on your financial statements and is a cost-effective alternative when an audit is not required. Our professional staff is qualified to provide this type of service if this meets your needs.
A financial statement compilation provides no assurance on your financial statements. In this type of engagement, financial statements are compiled from information that you provide in accordance with professional standards. Compilations are another type of service that our professional staff can provide for your business.
AGREED UPON PROCEDURES
Not all circumstances require an audit, review, or compilation. In some instances, an agreed upon procedures engagement maybe appropriate for your organization. An agreed upon procedures engagement is one in which an independent accountant is engaged to issue a report of findings based on specific procedures applied to subject matter that were agreed upon by the independent accountant and the specified parties. The report is restricted for use by the specified parties and does not express assurance or a conclusion, making this a cost saving alternative. A few examples of this type of engagement include providing due diligence when buying or selling a business, verifying cash balances, checking security balances, and reviewing loan portfolios.
